Crime Festival in Sweden? Gang Members, Police...and TONS of Crime Novel Authors

A festival dedicated to crime? Not really - it's a festival dedicated to crime novels, mysteries, and law enforcement in Sweden. And STHLM Crime Festival wasn't what I expected! It's a two day festival featuring tons of lectures and exhibitions and interactive features, and I decided to visit it on the Saturday. I was a bit worried that this festival is riding on the recent fascination that people have with Sweden's rise in crime, and that it's romanticizing violence - or even exploiting the situation. I guess you'll have to watch the video to hear my full thoughts on that topic! So what could you find at the festival? Lectures about gang violence in Sweden, talks by former gang leaders, but also information about a wide range of topics delivered by law enforcement officers, authors, and other prominent figures when it comes to Swedish crime. And there were of course tons of authors, like David Lagercrantz, Anders de la Motte, Viveca Steen and many many others. Plus competitions and podcasts and a forensics lab and a mugshot booth and so much more!
