Every year, the Battle of Belmonte, from the 15th-century War of the Castilian Succession, is reenacted. The Palace of Infante Don Juan Manuel has just been restored and will soon be a hotel. The women of Belmonte are compiling the best local recipes into a book. We tasted the best wines from the Cooperative, one of the town's economic drivers. In Belmonte, we found six windmills restored to their appearance in the time of Don Quixote. The Castle was built in the 15th century by Juan Pacheco, Marquis of Villena. The Castle belongs to the Ducal Family of Peñaranda, related to the House of Alba.
