TO MEASURE THICKNESS (DIAMETER) OF A WIRE BY USING SCREW GAUGE - PBA 9th - FBISE - M. Asif

Procedure: Clean the wire if necessary. Check for zero error of the screw gauge: Website : https://askariaeducation.com/ YouTube :    / @askariaeducationsystem   Facebook :   / askariaeducationsystem   E-mail : [email protected] Close the jaws gently. If the 0 mark of the circular scale matches with the reference line, zero error = 0. If not, note the positive or negative zero error. Place the wire between the anvil and spindle of the screw gauge. Rotate the ratchet until the wire is held gently (not too tight). Note the Main Scale Reading (MSR): The reading on the linear scale (in mm) just before the edge of the circular scale. Note the Circular Scale Reading (CSR): The number on the circular scale that coincides with the horizontal line on the sleeve. Calculate total reading: Total Reading = MSR + ( CSR × L.C. ) Total Reading=MSR+(CSR×L.C.) Correct the reading by subtracting/adding the zero error (if any). Repeat the measurement at 3–4 different points of the wire and find the average diameter.
