Therefore, the organizers decided to establish an independent platform for Asia, aiming to discover, recognize, and promote the region's top local dining talents, making it a definitive guide for global food enthusiasts to explore the Asian culinary map. Judging Panel: At the heart of the list is the "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Academy," an expert body composed of over 300 leaders in the food and beverage industry, ensuring diversity and professionalism in the selection process. The judges are not anonymous inspectors but rather publicly known industry experts. They primarily include: veteran food writers and critics, renowned chefs and restaurateurs, and well-traveled gourmets. To ensure the selection fairly represents the entirety of Asia, the academy is divided into six geographical regions, such as Japan, Korea, China (including Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), Southeast Asia, etc. Each region is organized and managed by a highly respected Chair. These regional Chairs are central to the judging system. They are responsible for inviting and forming a balanced and diverse local panel of judges. For instance, Susan Jung, a veteran food editor from Hong Kong, has served as the Chair for China and the Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan region. Judging Process: Core Principle: Personal Experience: Each judge's vote must be based on their personal dining experiences within the 18 months leading up to the voting deadline. This ensures the list reflects relatively recent and authentic dining standards. Voting Rules: Each judge nominates their personal top 10 restaurants. To encourage cross-regional exploration, at least 4 of these must be located outside their own country or region. A strict conflict-of-interest policy is enforced; judges cannot vote for restaurants they own or have any financial interest in. Independence Guarantee: The entire voting and tabulation process is supervised and audited by the international professional services firm Deloitte as an independent third party, ensuring fairness and transparency.
