Buenos Aires is a city where you just want to wander, without much of a plan. That's exactly what my husband and I did. Hi, I'm Kris the Traveler. In this episode, we explored Buenos Aires: the famous Recoleta Cemetery, the Carlos Theis Botanical Garden, the Tres de Fevrero Park, and the Japanese Garden. We stopped at the legendary Café Tortoni and the pizzeria Guterin. We wandered through the Sunday fair and San Telmo market, stopped at Barrio Chino, and visited a bookstore in a former theater. Café Tortoni is the oldest café in Buenos Aires, open since 1858. It offers an old-European atmosphere right in the heart of Latin America. Buenos Aires is an incredibly green city. The Tres de Fevrero Park, the Carlos Theis Botanical Garden, and the Japanese Garden are three completely different parks within walking distance of each other. The Recoleta Cemetery is a veritable city of the dead. Mausoleums are like houses, streets, and neighborhoods. Evita Perón is also buried here. We went to the San Telmo fair and market. Every Sunday there's a flea market on Calle Defensa and a covered market nearby. Antiques, street musicians, tango right between the aisles. Bario Chino is a small but vibrant Chinatown. Unexpectedly authentic for a city where you wouldn't expect it. A former theater converted into a bookstore, El Ateneo Grand Splendid. One of the most beautiful shops in the world!
