WATCH: Gov. Kotek on Oregon wildfires after touring Akawa Butte fire in Deschutes County

Firefighters face critical fire weather conditions as they work to contain dozens of wildfires burning across Oregon. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning through Saturday night for much of the central part of the state. Officials say strong wind gusts, low relative humidity, and hot temperatures can cause fires to spread and grow quickly. The danger will decrease overnight as temps and wind speeds fall. The nearly 27,300-acre Akawa Butte Fire burning on the Deschutes-Jefferson County line is now considered about 5% contained.
