Los elementos Químicos son necesarios para interpretar el Mundo | Javier Peña | TEDxEixample

Javier explains that chemistry is a language that allows us to understand the world. From what we consume to wars, everything is largely explained thanks to chemical elements. Humanity as a whole has lost much of its knowledge about these elements. We don't know how to interpret them, and the answer is quite simple: we don't know the language of materials because we aren't taught it. Javier proposes learning the language of materials, just as we learn letters, numbers, or musical notes. In short, Javier Peña is passionate about energy, frequencies, and vibration as expressions of the universe and everything around us. This passion, along with his desire to teach, led him to earn a doctorate in Chemical Sciences in 2000 and begin his dream of becoming a university professor. Since then, he has become the Director General and a professor at ELISAVA, where he teaches materials under the umbrella of Design and Engineering, integrating the language of matter at the same level as numbers, letters, and musical notes. He has researched new functional materials and their selection during the design process and co-founded Materfad. He is also the author of several books, such as Material Selection in the Design Process (2008), and has curated the exhibitions "Mater in Progress. New Materials - New Industry" (Barcelona, 2008; Zaragoza and Madrid, 2009) and "The Future in Construction" (Barcelona, 2012). Through his ideas, we understand a world that is both very tangible and, at the same time, unknown. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
