New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp at Home | Buttery, Spicy & Full of Flavor
Welcome back to Episode 3! Today I’m making New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp. We're not firing up the grill- no ribs situation here. We are making a rich, buttery, garlicky, classic shrimp dish that’s packed with all the flavor! We are also preparing a salad and French bread to soak up all that sauce! If you want more recipes, cooking vlogs, and Southern comfort food, make sure to like, comment, and subscribe! *New Orleans-Style Barbecue Shrimp Ingredients* Shrimp, shell-on or peeled and deveined French bread Butter Olive oil or cooking oil Garlic, minced Onion, chopped Lemon juice Lemon slices Worcestershire sauce Hot sauce Shrimp stock, seafood stock, chicken stock, or water Green onions or parsley for garnish *Seasonings Used* Creole seasoning Black pepper Garlic powder Onion powder Cayenne pepper Paprika Bay leaves *New Orleans-Style Barbecue Shrimp Recipe* 1. Start by seasoning your shrimp with Creole seasoning, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and paprika. 2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil or cooking oil with butter. 3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until fragrant, but be careful not to burn the garlic. 4. Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, lemon slices, bay leaves, more black pepper, and a little stock or water to build the sauce. 5. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes so the flavors can come together. 6. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook until they turn pink and are cooked through. Shrimp cook quickly, so don’t overcook them. 7. Add more butter at the end to make the sauce rich, glossy, and flavorful. 8. Taste the sauce and adjust if needed with more lemon, hot sauce, black pepper, or Creole seasoning. 9. Serve the shrimp in a bowl with plenty of sauce and French bread on the side for dipping. 10. Garnish with green onions or parsley and enjoy. *Tip:* The sauce is the best part, so make sure you have enough bread to soak it all up.
