I shot expired film from 4 different decades. Here's what happened.
Over the past few years I've collected and shot a surprising amount of expired film, ranging from rolls that expired just a couple of years ago to film from 1999. In this video I compare expired film from the 2020s, 2010s, 2000s, and the 1990s to see how it actually performs, what kind of color shifts and grain you can expect, and whether the "one stop per decade" rule really holds up. Along the way I shoot a variety of film stocks in several medium format and 35mm cameras, including: Kodak Portra 160, Kodak Portra 800, Kodak Gold 200, Ilford HP5, Kodak Tri-X 320, Kodak TMax 100 & 400, Fujifilm Superia X-tra 400, Fujicolor 100, Agfa XRG 200, Spector Color 200 and Carrefour 35mm film. Cameras featured include the Mamiya RZ67, Mamiya C33, Pentax K1000, Olympus OM10, Olympus Pen EE3, Yashica 635, EXA 1C, Praktica MTL5B, Lomography Sprocket Rocket, Agfa Isolette 4.5, and more. Whether you're wondering if expired film is worth buying, how to expose old film correctly, or you're simply curious how decades-old film ages, I hope this video helps. #filmphotography #expiredfilm #analogphotography #35mmfilm #mediumformat #kodakportra #kodakgold #fujisuperia #ilfordhp5 #kodaktmax #filmcamera #analogcamera #shootfilm #believeinfilm #photography Support my work by buying my zines/ books: https://www.blurb.com/user/elsvanopstal My website: www.els-vanopstal.com My Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/elsvo My Instagram: @elsvo Affiliate links (These help support my channel.
