DECENTER EUROPEAN BEAUTY STANDARDS (Natural hair edition) 👩🏾‍🦱👩🏿‍🦱👩🏽‍🦱

Pushing self love is only controversial when there's profit to be made from our insecurities. Right now, there's a movement of non black women putting down the straighteners and embracing their curls. Super pale girls accepting their skin. It's not exactly the same as our community's journey but it proves how much of a hold these standards have on everyone So please, don't act obtuse when we say decenter European beauty standards. Don't force your own interpretations or ascribe intentions that aren't there. The truth is uncomfortable. And that's okay In this video, we will talk about What European beauty standards actually are Why we as Black women feel the need to conform How fear keeps us stuck in the cycle How to decenter and gain freedom This isn't a new conversation. People have preached this same message across generations. It’s inspired songs, speeches, books, movements. Most of us strive to fit the standards to varying degrees. There’s levels to this. 😅 And if you're happy exactly where you are? More power to you. I won't lose sleep or trying to force anyone But for the girls who are unlearning, the ones trying with their curls and coils even when it feels like rebellion…this one's for you. Shout out to every girl learning to love her natural hair right now.❤️
