If you already have an EOS R in your backpack, you should definitely try the RF lenses. I know the prices (especially now) don't exactly inspire such experiments, but besides the fact that Canon has already officially confirmed that it's putting all its efforts into developing the new mount (meaning nothing innovative will happen with the old one), there are two options that will be a very comfortable entry into the new lineup. I'm talking about two affordable lenses that offer razor-sharpness and artistic images: the RF 35mm f/1.8 and the RF 24-105 f/4. These are two cases where, as the saying goes, you can climb a Christmas tree without tearing your ̶a̶.̶.̶.̶ jacket. I actually suspect Canon released them alongside their adapters, under the working title "Test Lenses," to lull potential buyers into a false sense of security and gently demonstrate all the advantages of the new mount. Otherwise, I can't explain the price gap between these two and other RF lenses, especially considering it's unlikely they'll be able to come up with a more versatile focal length. We're still preparing the material for the 24-105mm, but (spoiler alert) it turned out to be sharper than the legendary EF 24-70 f/2.8 II (though its image quality isn't quite as artistic). Misha and I have already written a short review of the most affordable 35mm lens for the new mount: no fluff or long introductions, just the main specifications and sample photos. Basically, everything we do! Let me say right away that while many say the image quality is just as good as the Sigma 35mm Art lens, we didn't conduct such a test because that's the topic of a separate review, and we really didn't want to put all our eggs in one basket. Furthermore, I've never shot with the Sigma myself, so I have nothing to compare it to, so all conclusions in this review are fairly objective and focus solely on the RF-equipped 35mm Art lens.
