Tavares Strachan Tells Forgotten Stories in Space - Brought to you by Hyundai

ART+TECHNOLOGY meets Tavares Strachan, a multi-media artist born in Nassau, Bahamas, is now but based in New York. He’s best known for creating works that are ambitious in scale and scope and incorporates science, the environment, and humanity. He worked with SpaceX on ‘ENOCH’ an art event which saw a 24K gold urn blasted into space and released into the Earth’s orbit. In the work, created in collaboration with LACMA, Strachan combined hidden histories, traditions of ancient Egypt, Shinto rituals and beliefs, and the history of exploration, to tell the forgotten story of Robert Henry Lawrence Jr., the first African American astronaut selected for a national space programme. Art+Technology is brought to you by Bloomberg Media Studios and Hyundai.
