Most recently, a sharia violator claiming to be a victim was scammed by a perpetrator in the Batoh area, Lueng Bata District, Banda Aceh. The perpetrator's modus operandi was that after meeting the victim, he would take money and flee. If the money was not returned, the victim would be threatened with a mob attack. The victim reported the case to the Banda Aceh City Public Order Agency via direct message (DM) or Instagram. They stated that they had suffered losses ranging from Rp 300,000 to Rp 1 million, and that the perpetrator had been operating for almost three years. Although many have fallen victim, most are reluctant to report the case to the authorities due to embarrassment over the circumstances surrounding the case.
