هدم دوار سيدي عبد الله بلحاج ينطلق بعين السبع وسط ترتيبات لإعادة إيواء السكان
On Monday, local authorities in the Ain Sebaa district began demolishing the Sidi Abdellah Belhaj housing complex as part of a program to eliminate substandard housing and relocate the affected families to furnished apartments in the Moulay Rachid district. The operation proceeded smoothly and in an organized manner, with a strong on-site presence of local authorities and security forces, who ensured the safety of all stages of the eviction and demolition process and the smooth flow of operations. A number of residents expressed a positive response to the decision, emphasizing the importance of improved housing conditions and moving to more suitable accommodations. Other families, however, stressed the need for continued support during the relocation phase, including practical solutions to overcome the social and financial challenges associated with the move. Special Arrangements Before Demolition Local authorities had previously postponed the start of the operation to June 22nd, after it was initially scheduled for June 20th, in order to finalize several organizational and social arrangements related to the relocation process. Before work began, local authorities notified residents of the scheduled evacuation and demolition dates, urging them to start moving their belongings and dismantling any salvageable equipment, while also making necessary arrangements to relocate to temporary housing if needed. The authorities emphasized that these measures are part of a resettlement program aimed at eliminating the last vestiges of informal housing in the area and improving the living conditions of the beneficiary families. Consideration for Students and Families Local authorities were keen to consider the academic circumstances of students taking their final exams during this period. To this end, they decided to grant exceptions to families whose children are taking end-of-year exams. The demolition of their homes will be postponed until after June 26th, ensuring that these educational milestones are achieved under suitable conditions. This measure was welcomed by a number of families who had expressed concerns about the impact of the relocation process on their children's concentration during the exam period. Legal Facilitation for Affected Families The measures taken also included some special social cases, particularly families whose breadwinners were in detention. In this context, local authorities provided legal guidance to the affected families to facilitate obtaining the official powers of attorney that would allow wives to complete the procedures for obtaining alternative housing without administrative obstacles. Representatives of the authorities also made sure to provide residents with clarifications regarding the various stages of the relocation process and to dispel any concerns related to accessing the new apartments. Calls for Easier Access to Loans Despite the positive atmosphere surrounding the process, a number of residents expressed their hope for additional measures to facilitate the move to the new housing. The most prominent of these demands are facilitating access to bank loans allocated for housing and simplifying the administrative procedures related to financing, enabling low-income families to complete the procedures under the best possible conditions. Several beneficiaries also called for strengthening basic facilities and services in the new neighborhoods to ensure the smooth integration of families into their new residential environment. Ending One of the Largest Slums in the Region The demolition of the Sidi Abdellah Belhaj shantytown marks a significant step in the authorities' efforts to eradicate substandard housing in the Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammadi prefecture. This project is part of the urban restructuring and rehabilitation programs underway in Casablanca, aimed at improving the quality of life and providing decent housing for families who have lived for many years in shacks lacking basic amenities and services. With the demolition and relocation process underway, attention is now focused on completing the various stages of resettlement and ensuring that the beneficiary families move into their new homes in dignified conditions that meet their expectations.
