Macky Sall, born on December 11, 1961 in Fatick, is a Senegalese statesman. He was President of the Republic of Senegal from 2012 to 2024. He is currently the Special Envoy of the Paris Pact for Peoples and the Planet. A member of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS), he supported President Abdoulaye Wade in the 2000 presidential election. Subsequently, he served as Minister of Mines, Energy, and Water Resources from 2002 to 2003, Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities from 2003 to 2004, Prime Minister from 2004 to 2007, and then President of the National Assembly from 2007 to 2008. In 2008, following a conflict with the president, he left the PDS and founded the Alliance for the Republic (APR), the party with which he won the second round of the 2012 presidential election with 66% of the vote against President Wade. While in power, he implemented a vast infrastructure program.
