Please register! →https://lin.ee/riUWppL Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine is the head shrine of over 3,800 Hiyoshi, Hie, and Sanno shrines nationwide, founded approximately 2,100 years ago. It has been revered since ancient times as the guardian deity of Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei and as the deity protecting the northeast (demon gate) of Heian-kyo (Kyoto). The Sanno Festival originates from Emperor Kanmu's donation of two portable shrines to Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine, and currently features various rituals centered around seven portable shrines. This festival, where the mikoshi bearers (kayocho) and Shinto priests serve the gods together, has been carefully preserved and passed down to this day. This time, we visited the Sanno Festival of Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine, one of the three major festivals of the Lake Biwa region.
