SALMON FISHING AT EDEN LACY ON THE RIVER EDEN - MY FIRST SALMON OF 2025

Myself and Jane headed to Cumbria to fish the River Eden for a day, An early start was met with a beautiful sunrise as we headed up the M6 in cold conditions but with the prospect of a lovely sunny day on offer hopes were high. Once arriving at the beat and seeing the river and its crystal water it was time to start tackling up and get fishing, Tackling up consisted on my normal set up, My 14 foot Loop NXT double handed rod, Air-Flow floating shooting head line a 6 foot sink tip, 6 foot of 10LBS fluorocarbon and a size 10 Cascade fly. Starting at the Viaduct Pool on my first run through it wasn't long before hooking into my first Salmon of 25 a cracking 8lbs silver beauty after a solid 8-9 minutes fight the fish was on the bank, quickly unhooked and returned to the river to continue its journey up steam.
