Total Depravity Part 2

Building on last week's teaching that man is spiritually dead in sin, Tom Shrader argues from 1 Corinthians 2:14 and John 6:44 that natural man is utterly unable to understand or respond to the gospel on his own. The word "draw" in John 6:44 carries the force of compulsion, not gentle wooing, meaning God must intervene and transform a person's nature before saving faith is possible. Shrader also addresses free will, distinguishing free choice from free will, and concludes that man always chooses according to his nature — and only a divinely given new nature can turn him toward Christ. “Man has free choice, but his will is in bondage to his nature.” — Tom Shrader Series: God's Plan For Salvation Recorded in 1998 Duration: 53 min Themes: salvation, free will, human nature, sin, grace, faith, gospel, spiritual death, questioning salvation, new believer, struggling with doubt, skeptic, seeker, wrestling with calvinism, young adult, adult sunday school Topics: total depravity, human inability, monergism, effectual calling, regeneration, calvinism, bondage of the will, new nature Scripture: Romans 3:10-12, Romans 6, John 6:44, 1 Corinthians 2:14, John 3:16, Revelation 3:20, James 2, Acts 16 — About Priority Living AZ — Priority Living AZ preserves the teaching legacy of Tom Shrader.
