Mission Driven: Community Outreach
A world class medical center not only provides high quality care to patients in the hospital, but preventive care for their surrounding communities. The kind of awareness to health that identifies potential problems before they become a big concern for individuals. For over 65 years, Mount Sinai Medical Center has been a resource to its community, residents and visitors alike, through its community outreach program. These programs offer easily accessible, affordable, and even free wellness information and screenings. Our goal is to help you manage your health. Our free screenings offered throughout South Florida – from Monroe to Broward County – include heart attack and stroke prevention, as well as skin and colon cancer, memory, depression, and glucose screenings. We also offer reduced rates for diagnostic procedures, such as digital mammograms during the months of May and October, along with lung cancer screenings during the month of November. Not only is preventive care important, but education on a variety of medical topics is also provided through our community medical lecture series. That's when our esteemed staff of doctors make themselves available to answer questions and share the very latest information in medical care to our diverse community. We partner with key organizations to spread the word about cancer prevention, and we work with local fire rescue agencies to raise awareness about stroke and heart attack, including learning the symptoms to take the necessary steps if one should be in a similar situation. And across Miami Beach parks and beaches, Mount Sinai has installed free sunscreen dispensers in an effort to help residents and visitors alike take preventive measures against skin cancer. And what's more, Mount Sinai also knows the importance of providing emotional support to their community members in their time of need. We offer support groups for patients and caregivers of Alzheimer's disease, various cancers, and those who have suffered a heart attack. Back to the chest.
