All steel sewing machine and one of the first products manufactured by Toyota for consumers in the U.S. This machine has undergone a full overhaul and restoration. Like the other Japanese sewing machine makers after WWII, Toyota adapted the Singer Class 15 shuttle and bobbin system along with Italian ZigZag technology after their patents had elapsed. The "clone" sewing machines as they were called were produced by several Japanese companies several of which are well known brands such as Janome and Brother. But in the post war period, they largely made machines under "Private Labels" for department stores and sewing machine distributor/retailers such as Atlas (see my videos under that brand) and Morse. One name that stands out to many people is Toyota which was rebuilding after the war and seeking new markets for its manufacturing. Some of the best post war machines were made by Toyota. Although the Toyota name did not get shown on the branding/logos on the machine, they sometimes would stamp or emboss the name Toyota underneath the machine which this model has. Other companies involved in Japanese sewing machine manufacturing were Soryu and Marusen (producer of many of Sears Kenmore later vintage machines).
