Will a Rossi Gallery fire .22 short CB

In today’s video, I will be shooting the Rossi Gallery which is chambered in .22 LR but I believe can shoot .22 short as well. The .22 pump action rifle is a very unique firearm that was prevalent at carnivals and was given the nickname gallery gun as that was what it was mainly used for. Due to safety concerns, it fell out of favor over time with only a few manufacturers still making a version today. When it comes to .22 rifles, there are a plethora of choices with regard to actions. This includes but is not limited to; brake barrel, bolt action, lever action, semi-automatic, and of course pump action to name a few. So why the pump-action over others? Simply, it is the only manual cycling action that does not require the shooter to break their grip and therefore would likely have quicker follow-up shots. The second, and many people that have shot pump action .22s will also say that they are hard to beat for pure enjoyment. There is something about a short manual actuating pump gun that is a pure joy to shoot when compared to a semi-auto, at least for some of us. Now onto the gun itself, the Rossi gallery is not a high-quality rifle nor does it pretend to be. The action release is annoying, the trigger while reasonably smooth is very heavy, the barrel is pinned to the receiver and has been known to be a major failure point, and the gun will jam if you even think about short stroking the action. Keep in mind you will also have to take the receiver cover off (4 cheap Phillips head screws) in order to remove the jam. If you are wanting a reliable hunting rifle you are better off getting an overabundance of better quality .22lr’s. In hindsight, I wish I would have gone with a higher quality henry pump-action .22 LR. However, there is one major reason you would still pick up the Rossi; its mass-market share. When it came to finding a pump-action .22 this was by far the easiest to get my hands on especially given the lunacy of the gun and overall market over the past couple of years. All in all, I am still happy I picked up this rifle and I really do enjoy shooting it. I even hope to even try it out as a squirrel hunting rifle at some point even if there are many better options. The accuracy of this rifle is pretty good as well even if it is built to a price point as you can see in this video.
