Andrés Pastrana, expresidente de Colombia

March 29, 2016. Former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana participated in the seminar "Vargas Llosa: Culture, Ideas, and Freedom," with a talk on the panel "The Situation of Latin America: A Presidential Vision." Andrés Pastrana, President of Colombia from 1998 to 2002, highlighted the social and political situation his country has experienced in recent decades. He addressed the democratic situation in Colombia and Latin America and the challenges and problems facing the region (terrorism, drug trafficking, poverty, etc.). The seminar brought together former Latin American presidents, as well as intellectuals, thinkers, and writers, to reflect on the future of Ibero-America and the challenges facing democracy in the region. The first day of the seminar featured, among others, former Chilean President Sebastián Piñera; former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe; Former Uruguayan President Luis Alberto Lacalle; and former Presidents José María Aznar and Felipe González.
