STICK TO THE INLINE-6! - 2026 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Review

Is the Mazda CX-90 PHEV worth it? We love the standard CX-90, but the Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) version has some surprising drawbacks you need to know before buying. In today's review we take a look at the 2026 Mazda CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid three-row SUV. We have previously tested the CX-90 and CX-70 with the regular and high output inline-6 engines and found them quite attractive - can Madza's first PHEV complement those offerings and broaden the appeal of Mazda's midsize SUV even further? Clocking in at $60,625.00 USD ($72,595.00 CAD here in Canada), this 2026 Mazda CX-90 Signature PHEV goes head to head with regular hybrids such as the Toyota Grand Highlander and the Hyundai Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy. Unfortunately, Mazda's lack of experience in the hybrid space shows with the 2026 Mazda CX-90 Hybrid range being significantly lower than competitors, and the CX-90 PHEV vs Inline-6 comparison showing that the hybrid is, surprisingly, less smooth than the Inline-6 version of the three-row SUV.
