Did I just complete the ultimate Pokémon GO challenge? My son and I traveled to Pokémon GO Fest Chicago 2026 for an unforgettable weekend of raids, shiny hunting, exploring Chicago, and making memories together. What started as a fun adventure turned into one of the greatest Pokémon GO experiences I’ve ever had when I caught an incredibly rare Shundo Background Mewtwo at the end of the event. From Lincoln Park to Navy Pier, we walked over 40 kilometers per day, battled countless raids, and explored one of the best Pokémon GO events ever held. Our GO Fest Stats (Friday–Sunday only) ⭐ 5,427 Pokémon caught ⭐ 2,107 PokéStops spun ⭐ 13,684,999 XP earned ⭐ Nearly 8,000,000 Stardust ⭐ 150 Shiny Pokémon ⭐ 11 Perfect (100% IV) Pokémon I wish I had tracked Day 1 because these numbers are only from Friday through Sunday—and I didn’t even count the number of raids we completed! Some of our biggest highlights: 🔥 Shundo Background Mewtwo ⚡ Zeraora 🚗 Varoom ⚓ Dhelmise 📱 Rotom ✨ 150 shiny Pokémon Outside of Pokémon GO, we also explored Chicago together, visiting the area around the Field Museum, enjoying authentic Chicago deep-dish pizza, grabbing Chicago-style hot dogs, and stopping at the incredible Starbucks Reserve Roastery. For me, Pokémon has been a passion since childhood. After serving over 20 years in the Army and completing Ranger School, sharing this adventure with my son made the entire trip even more meaningful. The rare Pokémon were amazing, but the memories are what I’ll remember most.
