Lost in the Keys: My First 24 Hours of the 2024 Hoka Hey Challenge

Day 1: Lost Partners, New Allies, and Hurricane Debby | Hoka Hey 2024 ⛈️🏍️ The 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge started with a split second that changed my entire journey. In this video, I document the chaotic first day of the 10,000-mile trek from Daytona to Homer. The Highlights: The Wrong Turn: Early on, a simple navigation error caused me to lose my riding partner, Fred Bigland. Little did I know, I wouldn't see him again for the rest of the route to Alaska. A New Partnership: In the middle of the storm, I crossed paths with Jeff Mallory. We teamed up right as Hurricane Debby began to hammer the Florida Keys. Key West Flooding: We battled rising high water near the Southernmost Point of the U.S., navigating our Harleys through flooded streets and intense winds. The Marathon "Hotel": We finally found a place to pull over at a gas station in Marathon, FL. It was peaceful for a moment—until the local roosters decided it was time for us to wake up and get back on the road at 2 am! Why I Ride: I am sharing these memories as I prepare to return to the starting line for the 2026 Hoka Hey loop.
