At an altitude of 4300m, we aimed for 800-year-old Tibetan Buddhist murals preserved in the cliffs of Upper Mustang, the innermost region of Nepal. However, the path to the cave was a precarious, crumbling sandstone cliff. Only a very small number of trekkers visiting Upper Mustang actually make it this far. With an oxygen saturation level of 81, and suffering from headaches and nausea due to altitude sickness, we climbed the cliff where "one fall and it's over."
