Carlos presents: Sing, soul, rejoice – Traditional Russian folk chant (Russian-English-Spanish subtitles) Lyrics inspired by the words against discouragement from Father Joao Cla Dias (founder of the Herald of the Gospel): "Let us never be discouraged... 'Discouragement' for us is a blasphemous word! Whatever circumstances we go through, we can never be discouraged. Even in the most terrible situation one can imagine! Alone; alone, all alone, with no one else on the face of the earth: [Let us imagine that] I am left alone. No one else. Everyone has gone to heaven... I am left alone! I have made these songs because I am studying contemporary Russian accompanied by music, but there is practically no Christian content – in traditional styles – written in modern Russian. This is because, since the establishment of the USSR, the production of sacred music was very limited. Moreover, a large part of it is in Church Slavonic, not in the language I need to study (modern Russian). So, to help fill this artistic gap that has existed since the Soviet revolution, I decided to make my own versions that help me pray to Christ while I learn the language and enjoy the Russian musical style. But that's not the only reason... These chants have other uses: To be listened to by children and give them a clear message of what is good, beautiful, and true. To be listened to by young people (I am one of them), helping them stay firm in an increasingly anti-Christian, cowardly, and vicious world. So that through these songs, men can know what kind of man to be and what kind of woman to look for. And that women may also be guided to what they should improve and cultivate in themselves, and what virtues to look for in a man if they want a real, intense, and strong union. So that every Christian may lift their thoughts to God with music in popular and traditional styles. So this music is not only for me, but also for my future children, for my Russian-speaking friends, and for anyone who wants to use every means we have to become saints. My focus is on preparing for marriage from childhood to maturity; both for men and women who want to reach Heaven through this sacrament. Because many Christians today settle for just wishing and imagining nice things, and end up never doing anything concrete to prepare themselves to be good spouses and parents. And this always leads to mediocre and broken families, with lustful, vain, lazy, greedy, capricious fathers and mothers, and children with the same flaws. Therefore, these songs aim to show concrete ways to act, and that every young person can and should imitate them to be happier, make better decisions, increase virtue, and decrease vices.
