Heavy Rain forces Trad Climbers to Hike | Ettringen | Kottenheim

2 Small back to Trad Climbing and Hiking over the Volcano This weekend we took our friend Peter for two days on a Trad climbing adventure in Germany. We had great fun but the second day started with heavy rain so we had to improvise! The area around Koblenz called the Volcano Eifel area is well known because of its lava and basalt creating the perfect crack climbing rock. With places like Ettringen, Kottenheim and Mayen there plenty Trad climbing possibilities. Not to forget the beautiful nature surroundings around the volcano's with lots of hiking trails that are amazing. Great view over the country side. We started on Saturday in Kottenheim Winfield in Westkessel as there the sun was shining bright on the rocks. We did some 6a rated routes like "Blower in the arms", "Dreckertle", "Papermoon Patty" and I did a good try on "Moneypenny" 7a. Maybe next time to finish it. We made great areal drone shots of the trad climbing. On our regular camping spot on Falkleymühle camping we made a nice small fire for our barbecue and for some heath during the evening. Next day early morning the rain started to become quit heavily and we had to change our plan from climbing to hiking. So we did the Volcano tour from "Traumpfade" around Ettringen and Kottenheim. Such a nice area to do a hike 😀 We had a nice weekend and had a great time in the Eifel area. Please enjoy the video and if you have any questions please leave us a message below in the comments.
