The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced the martyrdom of Infantry Sergeant Harun Çalışkan following the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists in the Claw Yıldırım Operation Zone. The Ministry's statement read, "Today, one of our heroic comrades-in-arms was martyred in the Claw Yıldırım Operation Zone as a result of the explosion of an IED planted by terrorists. We pray for God's mercy upon our esteemed martyr who lost his life in this incident, which has left us deeply saddened and grieved. We offer our condolences and offer our deepest condolences to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation." Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar issued a condolence message for martyred Harun Çalışkan. In his message, Akar said, "Our heroic comrade-in-arms was martyred on October 28, 2021. On behalf of myself and the members of the Ministry of National Defense, I offer my condolences and prayers of patience to his grieving family and our noble nation."
