Salima Mourad: The Jewish singer known as the voice of Iraq
Iraqi Jewish singer Salima Mourad was one of the most important artists of her time. Dubbed "the voice of Iraq," her voice was known and loved across the Arab world. But several major events forever changed the future of Iraq's Jews and their security in the country. Following the Farhud massacre 80 years ago, in June 1941, and the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, almost the entire Jewish community of Iraq was forced to flee.
