The wind had other plans | Solo Canoe Camping in Algonquin
I set out in the early morning in late May to return to Algonquin's Smoke Lake access point. I crossed Smoke Lake to camp at Ragged Lake for one night, and then continued to Big Porcupine for my second night. The 500m portage between Ragged and Big Porcupine has the nickname "The Devil's Staircase" due to it's steep 12 degree climb for about 200m. The weather was overcast and windy for most of the trip, which was a new challenge for me.
