15TH RIDE - Sycamore Canyon Trail (Malibu CA)

I originally planned to hit the China Flat Trailhead, but I asked Ari (aka Grok) for a closer, more laid-back recommendation. I wanted to get some miles in without struggling up a mountain today. She suggested the Sycamore Canyon Trail in Malibu. She warned me parking was $12 for the day, and while I’ve seen people park along the 1, but I wasn't up for playing Frogger across the highway on my bike. Luckily, they offer a $3 hourly rate. The trail is rated moderate/intermediate, but I suspect that’s mostly due to its length. I logged 11 miles and easily could have spent the whole day out there. I will definitely be going back. Of course, it wouldn't be a misadventure without some technical difficulties. I tried running two cameras today but couldn't find a good mounting spot for the Insta360. To make matters worse, my GoPro died. I always carry backup batteries, but I've never thought to check to see if the camera is still rolling... Lesson learned.
