The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a slight upward adjustment in utility tariffs, citing persistent exchange rate pressures despite recent easing in inflation. Electricity tariffs have been increased by 3.49% while water tariffs go up by 0.85%, effective July 1, 2026. According to PURC, the decision is driven mainly by the depreciation of the Ghana cedi, which continues to raise operational costs for utility providers under the quarterly review mechanism.
