Catalyst Game Labs Doesn't Understand BattleTech
#battletech #strategy #gaming In this video I share my opinion on the recent changes Catalyst Game Labs have announced for the core rules of BattleTech. I'm a huge fan of BattleTech but I'm not a fan of the changes to the core rules. To me it seems Catalyst Game Labs is trying to get a wider audience and they feel to do that they have to water the rules down and make it so there are less consequences in BattleTech game play. BattleTech is a strategy game that rewards players whose tactics are sound, or it used to be. When the new rules come into effect it's my opinion the game will be changed not for the better. In this video I also go over why Autocannons in BattleTech are not bad and how they can be useful. I also point out the balance of the weapons in BattleTech. Autocannons take up more space but they produce minimal heat. I think Catalyst Game Labs is showing they don't know what they're doing by making their recent changes. I'm also moving closer to releasing a new tabletop strategy game which plays similar to BattleTech, this new game is called 'Theta Tek'. I'm working with a USA publisher and they will be sending me a rough draft copy of the game soon. Close to the end of this video I go over a lesson I learned playing one of my first games of BattleTech when I had a Warhammer and one of my opponents had a Phoenix Hawk. Strategy and tactics matter. In BattleTech players take risks that may or may not work out. But if players want to win they need to be able to take those risks and deal with the consequences. I feel Catalyst Game Labs doesn't understand BattleTech. In this video I show a part of the Pirates of the Caribbean to illustrate autocannon's in a funny way. I also show a clip from one of Tex Talks BattleTech videos about the Urban mech and you can watch that full video here: • Battletech/Mechwarrior Lore: The UrbanMech! I also mention life in the Inner Sphere is not fair and Sven van der Plank on YouTube has done an excellent job going over the history and lore of BattleTech.
