Rethinking Assessment in the Age of AI

AI is rapidly changing how students may complete assignments, challenging educators to rethink not just what they assess, but how they assess it. In our recent AI on Campus session, over 250 participants shared their current approaches and challenges. The conversation revealed seven emerging practices that move far beyond simply trying to detect AI use. These strategies foster student originality, critical thinking, and ethical engagement with technology while making assessments more authentic, resilient, and aligned with meaningful learning.
