Packing Up Our Life & Driving Across the United States in a 39 Year-Old DIY EX-Military Unimog

We're packing up our life and hitting the road in our 39-year-old DIY ex-military Unimog. We finally roll out of New York after weeks of upgrades, fixes, and last-minute projects on the truck. In this video, we load everything into the Unimog and cross our fingers that we’re not overweight before beginning a multi-state drive across the United States. Ride along for a full day on the road as we travel through New York, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois in bitter winter temperatures that dropped to 11 degrees Fahrenheit, testing both us and the truck. With temperatures this low, we're discovering how our composite box and diesel heater performed in extreme cold, and what it takes to start a long overland journey across the country. We also weigh the Unimog on the CAT scale and share what it’s really like to live and travel in a self-built expedition rig. This marks the official start of our drive out west toward a major destination for the Unimog and the next chapter of our adventure.
