Ever since I received the call from Sergio on December 4, 2021, I couldn't wait to hold my new guitar and play it. I had two options: have the chitarra battente shipped to me or go to Scilla and pick it up in person. Of course, I chose to go to Sergio's in person and unbox it directly with the luthier. In my vlog video, you can see the magical moments of this journey that began on December 17, 2021: the stunning landscape of Calabria and Scilla, the first cries of my new chitarra battente Oliver OL-19, and everything that happened during these wonderful days. The chitarra battente OL-19 The Oliver battente guitars from Oliver Guitar Lab in Scilla, built by Sergio Pugliesi, have the initials OL followed by a number. The acronym indicates that the instrument was designed in collaboration between Sergio Pugliesi, aka Oliver (so the O stands for Oliver), and battente guitarist Francesco Loccisano (so the L for Loccisano). The number indicates the year of the project. There are two projects: OL-14 and OL-19. Chitarra Battente OL-14 and OL-19 My old chitarra battente was an OL-14, and the new one is an OL-19. So here's the answer for anyone who asks: why did you decide to change your chitarra battente? To play the new model. And what better way to try out a new chitarra battente OL-19 than with Francesco Loccisano and Sergio Pugliesi? I was lucky enough to try out my new chitarra battente with both of them. Oliver Guitar Lab in Scilla So on December 18, 2021, at the Oliver Guitar Lab in Scilla, together with Sergio Pugliesi and Francesco Loccisano, we tested my new chitarra battente OL-19. In addition to playing it myself, I also had the opportunity to listen to Francesco Loccisano play it. The result of testing my new Chitarra Battente? My new Chitarra Battente Oliver is truly perfect; the sound is extraordinary and responsive, and despite being new, it's already very powerful and defined. It's perfect as it is, but I already know that the sound will improve day by day, and the more time I spend playing it, the better it will get. But obviously, a good start is a good start, and my Chitarra Battente is already off to a good start, exceeding all expectations. And in the coming weeks, I'll be sharing this wonderful new sound with you, my new Chitarra Battente Oliver-19. This time, however, the model was my new Oliver OL-19 Battente Guitar, alone and hugging me. So we could call it a "new guitar" photoshoot.
