Music by Background:    • Video   Antônio Marcos began working as an office boy, retail salesman, and shoe store clerk before working on talent shows, radio, and finally television. From 1960 to 1962, he stood out on Estevam Sangirardi's show, singing, playing the guitar, and performing comedy. In 1965, at the age of nineteen, he joined the Golden Gate Choir and performed in the plays "Pé Coxinho" and "Samba Contra 00 Dólar" by Pascoal Lourenço at the Teatro de Arena. Invited by Ramalho Neto, he recorded his first album for RCA Victor as a member of the group "Os Iguais," quickly becoming a soloist and achieving success with the song "Tenho Um Amor Melhor Que O Seu" (I Have a Better Love Than Yours) (Roberto Carlos). In 1969, he participated in the 5th MPB Festival on TV Record, performing "Tu Vais Voltar." The song placed 4th, and Antônio Marcos won the festival's "Best Performer" award. From there, other hits followed, such as "Oração De Um Jovem Triste" (Alberto Luís) and "Como Vai Você" (with Mário Marcos). He was introduced to the cinema by J. B. Tanko in the film Pais Quadrados... Filhos Avançados (1970), also appearing in Som, Amor E Curtição (1972) and others, in addition to acting in plays such as Arena Conta Zumbi (Teatro de Arena, directed by Augusto Boal, 1969) and Hair (Teatro Aquarius, directed by Altair Lima, 1970). He achieved his greatest success in 1973 with "O Homem De Nazaré" (Cláudio Fontana), which would be released the following year in Spanish. One of his last hits was the theme song for O Profeta, a TV Tupi soap opera in which his future wife Débora Duarte appeared. Already married to the actress, he would appear with her in the TV Bandeirantes soap opera Cara a Cara, in which he also sang the theme song. During the 1980s, his career declined. As a result, Antônio Marcos became addicted to alcohol and other drugs, which led to his admission to rehabilitation clinics. In 1991, he planned to release an LP containing a version of John Lennon's "Imagine," but Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, vetoed the version, which, combined with the bankruptcy of the Esfinge record label, prevented the album's release. #grave #cemetery #antoniomarcos
