Why I dont Use the Bougie with Hyperangulated Video Laryngoscope Blades.
Many have tried to save an airway using a bougie in the traditional direct laryngoscopy manner with a Macintosh or Miller Blade. But forget I warned you that such success unlikely to happen since bougies are meant for line of sight intubations. I see a crack or crook or nook of a glottic opening in my direct line of sight, that bougie has a chance of squeezing thru. Not to happen with many video laryngoscopes that arent standard geometric but hyperangulated. Stick to the hyperangulated specialized stylet designed for that unique blade. First Pass Success will soom follow. Enjoy the video. I laugh sometimes when I am right. @johh_well may not be feeling so joyous as he fails trying to prove me wrong. Fortunately he sees the light after this encounter. Unfortunately many wont realize this until they try it live to save a life, to save an airway. But will predictably fail. #airwaybasics #airwaybackups #airwaymacgyver #airwaymanagement #emergencyairwaymanagement #emergencymedicine #emergencymedicineresidency #criticalcare #anesthesia #ems #prehospital #ernurses #physicianassistant #nursepractitioner #medic #paramedic #theresuscitators #theintubators #theresuscitationists #intubation #intubatiem #theresuscitationist
