WESTCOUNTRY TALES S2E7 - The Healer

We end the series as we started with actor Keith Barron. Keith was very much a friend of BBC Plymouth having contributed to many local programmes including hosting a series called 'Towards 2000' - sort of a local 'Tomorrow's World'. In this episode he plays the part of a con man who arrives in a small West Country village with a briefcase full of money, the proceeds from his most recent successful scam. His original intention is simply to lie low and avoid attracting attention from the authorities. However he gains a reputation as a healer after an casual pub incident when he manages to aid an elderly man with a weak arm. After another 'healing' his cover is blown when a local newspaper publishes his photo. But is his 'healing' a scam or an uncanny gift? The venue featured in this episode is the Fisherman's Cot at Bickleigh very picturesque and still going strong. This upload has been subject to video and audio restoration with an added opening title sequence. Copyright resides with the original holder https://www.bbc.co.uk/historyofthebbc
