Train movements include BNSF trains operating between Tacoma, Washington and Vancouver, Washington as well as Union Pacific trains operating on trackage rights between Portland, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington. Additionally, Amtrak operates 14 daily trains including the Cascades and Coast Starlight service. The closest Amtrak station stop is Centralia, Washington. Background Located halfway between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA this railcam shows the very busy BNSF Seattle Sub at Chehalis, Washington. This route is a major line between the BNSF system and the Northwest (Tacoma, Seattle, Everett, Vancouver BC and into Canada) - Union Pacific runs trains to their yards and terminals in Tacoma and Seattle. Train traffic includes; heavy manifest traffic, intermodal, autos, grain, oil and coal as well as municipal garbage along with several locals and switchers. Additionally, Amtrak operates fourteen daily trains including the Amtrak Cascades service and Coast Starlight service by the camera. The closest Amtrak station stop is Centralia, Washington (4 miles north). This camera is owned, maintained and moderated by a group of local railfans who seek to provide quality entertainment and education about railroads, railroad history and railroad operations - as told by railfans and railroaders who frequent this site. We promote this by hosting regular railfan gatherings that are open to all visitors to meet, greet and enjoy our trains! This camera sees on average 45-55 train movements daily between BNSF/UP and Amtrak.
