DIFERENÇA ENTRE SHOULD, WOULD e COULD?
ATTENTION!!!! Hey everyone, Mairo Vergara here :) I'd like to invite you all to participate in the 8th English Week, which will take place from August 7th to 11th. It's a 100% online and free event about learning English. Don't miss out! More information and registration link: https://goo.gl/nJhZmN ----------------------------- Hello everyone! This is Mairo Vergara with another English tip. And today, I'm going to answer another question from Martins' Snapchat, which many people have already asked me: "Mairo, I want to learn the differences between the words should, would, and could." These words are what we call modal or auxiliary verbs. They are verbs that modify other verbs and have multiple uses. I'm not going to explain all the uses of these words here to make you an expert. That's not how it works. You need to understand the basics of how each one works. And from there, you'll start to understand the different meanings each one has. But let's start with the Pareto Principle, which says that 20% of the things you do are responsible for 80% of the results. And I believe the 20% you should know are the following: Would If you say "I would study," that is, "I would study." So, "Would" is a modifier of the verb that follows it, and it always ends with "ria": "eu correria" (I would run), "eu esturia" (I would study). These are the 20% of "Would." Should This is quite simple and can be used when you want to give advice. For example: "I should study," which becomes "I should study" or "I must study." It's advice, something that should be done. Could The last one is "Could," which is very easy and explains a capacity. For example: "I could study," I could study. In the sense of capacity and being able to accomplish something. So, these are the 20% you should worry about when it comes to could, should, and would. It's very simple: write this down in a notebook, and once you master it, you'll never have problems with should, could, and would again!
