Gabrieli - Canzon IX (à 8) - for eight horns
For this week's installment of my Gabrieli Horn Project, I'm skipping ahead to Canzon IX (à 8), also from the 1615 "Canzoni et Sonate" collection. This project started as a way to keep busy during the pandemic. I've had to leverage all sorts of skills beyond playing, and it's been an incredible emotional investment to study this music so closely for weeks on end. In the coming weeks, I'll be taking a break from Gabrieli and turning my attention elsewhere... I have another fun project I want to work on, but this one serves another really important purpose: connecting with new audiences. Stay tuned...
