ASVNNA † SHOKUREN feat. SA'RACHELLION | 飾喰煉 | The Oni Demon I Carry Inside [Jazzy Extreme Metal]

SHOKUREN | 飾喰煉 was never planned. The best things emerge spontaneously. My friend SA'RACHELLION sent me a jazzy extreme metal instrumental base for an experiment... and it induced an immediate trance. I wrote the lyrics on the spot, and within 40 minutes this was the result: an explosion of guttural roars and raw metal energy fused with the unpredictability and improvisation of jazz. What makes this even more fascinating is that something in the music connected with my subconscious to a short novel I'm currently writing about this fictional oni (Shokuren 飾喰煉, a fictional kanji construction meaning "the one who devours to purify"), and guided by the story in my head, I made the video in a few hours. This song is very different from the darkwave register you're used to from me. It is intense and draconic. It was a challenge recording this with my cheap microphone without saturating the mix like a demon. Also, translated a bit of the intensity from the Fade To Black cover I made a few weeks ago.
