🏡 In this episode, we visited the Scandic Forest cottage community to plant a new 300 m² Smart Block house. The site was challenging: a steep slope, a ravine, a stream along the boundary, and many century-old pine trees that the client wanted to preserve as much as possible. So, the entire team went to the site: an architect, a surveyor, a foreman, and a house plan. 🎥 In this episode, we show: — how a house is planted on a site; — why it's important to visit the site before construction begins; — how markings help determine which trees can be saved; — why the house had to be shifted relative to the original planting; — how the site's slope affects the foundation and architecture; — why a pile-and-grillage foundation was abandoned; — where they decided to install a monolithic beam to preserve the pine tree; — why it's essential to verify the topographic survey on-site; — how to properly organize drainage and storm sewerage on a site with a ravine. As a result, we adjusted the house's position, preserved the most valuable pine trees, decided on the foundation type, and understood what changes needed to be made to the architectural design before construction began.
