Smokejumpers | Restless Spirits | AETHER Apparel
Welcome to the third episode of AETHER Apparel's Restless Spirits series, where we spotlight individuals who embody the spirit of adventure, resilience, and determination. In this episode, we delve into the thrilling and dangerous world of smokejumpers – the elite firefighters who parachute into remote areas to combat wildfires. It’s that time of year when wildfire activity is increasing across the country. Have you heard of the Bear Fire, Campbell Fire, or the Blakes Fire? Most likely not, thanks to the quick response by wildland firefighters. Among the quickest responders are the Forest Service smokejumpers. Within 15 minutes of a call, these specially trained wildland firefighters are on a plane en route to the fire. As they exit the plane at 3,000 feet, they carry with them the essential tools of the trade — a Pulaski, a chainsaw, three days of food and water, and other equipment to stop the fire from spreading.
