OO 281, Hornby ‘Ultimate’ Black 5 Troubles
Welcome to my two hundred and eighty first video on my work with OO gauge. In this video I'll be looking at the Hornby's brand new tooling of the LMS Stanier Black 5. This was announced as the 'ultimate' OO gauge Black 5, back in 2022. The first versions of it finally became available in April 2024, and mine arrived last week. Sadly - spoiler alert - this will not be a happy story. Others have already posted online regarding their troubles with this model, and I'm very sorry to say that my experience has been the same. Ultimately I was never able to get mine to run on layout tracks at all… so I'm afraid that it is going back.
