Andy La Rocque Talks Lex Legion, Sleep Eternally And A New Heavy Metal Chapter

G’day legends, Jai That Aussie Metal Guy here with Crannk, and in this interview I sit down with one of the most recognisable guitar voices in heavy metal, Andy La Rocque. For so many of us, Andy’s playing is woven into the very fabric of King Diamond. The riffs, the solos, the atmosphere, and that unmistakable melodic darkness have helped shape heavy metal history. He has also left his mark through Death, At The Gates, Sonic Train Studios, and decades of work as a guitarist, producer and engineer. Now Andy steps into a brand new chapter with Lex Legion, a new band featuring Andy La Rocque, Mikkey Dee, Pete Blakk, Hal Patino and Nils K. Rue. In this conversation, Andy talks about how Lex Legion first began back in 2008, how Mikkey Dee helped reignite the project during the pandemic years, and how the band found its own sound rather than leaning on leftover King Diamond or Motörhead style ideas. We also dive into the first single Sleep Eternally, the upcoming second single Gypsy Tears, Nils K. Rue bringing his own voice into the band, the chemistry between Andy and Pete Blakk, the album’s flow, and why melody is still the key to a solo that stays with you. The self titled Lex Legion debut album arrives June 12 through MNRK Music Group. Watch the full interview now and let us know what you think of Sleep Eternally in the comments.
