We prefer to introduce him as Titus Dittmann, the man who brought skateboarding to Germany and now employs over 500 people in his stores. But it wasn't just school that put obstacles in Titus's way: In 1977, the German government considered whether the "dangerous skateboards" from America should be banned. Titus had a different idea when he saw the first boys on skateboards, falling again and again, getting up, and trying the trick again: "They always wanted to keep learning, learning. There were no adults around, no one was motivating them." At that moment, Titus began to think about how to instill intrinsic motivation in children – and he started skateboarding himself. This was such an outrage at the time that it landed him – Titus was now a physical education teacher – in disciplinary action. But Titus isn't just a pioneer of skateboarding, he's also a pioneer in the skateboard trade. This wasn't intentional, however, but arose from the necessity of providing boards for his students. In business, Titus never became a fan of business plans. He prefers to seize opportunities rather than stubbornly forging ahead with rigid plans. He also didn't set his own goals in life too high from the start. Only when he was almost attaining them did he raise the bar a little bit, forcing him to constantly strive for it, because Titus is convinced: "Whoever achieves their goal in life didn't set it high enough." Titus genuinely regrets only one thing: that his teachers are no longer alive, because "I can't even give them the middle finger anymore."
