Hamilton Exposed Ferrari's Biggest Problem After Austria And The Fix Won't Come For A While!
🔴 Ferrari arrived in Austria with a new engine, a new Shell fuel, and the momentum of Barcelona. They left with Hamilton fifth, Leclerc eighth, and three sentences from Hamilton that told you everything. "Our Achilles heel is obvious — a lack of straight-line speed." "The next power upgrade won't come for a while." "Hopefully the car will be in a better place at Silverstone." No ambiguity. The man driving the car confirmed the upgrade did not fix the problem and the real fix is not coming soon. Then Antonelli added something from outside the car that made it even sharper. He almost crashed into Leclerc at Turn 1 on lap two. Not because Leclerc braked suddenly. Because Ferrari's energy deployment cut so dramatically mid-straight that the speed difference between the two cars was approximately thirty kilometres per hour. The championship leader nearly ran into the back of a Ferrari at racing speed because the SF-26 slowed down that suddenly on a straight. That is not a small problem. That is the problem. The name for it is Super Clipping. The SF-26 exhausts its deployable electrical energy before the end of long straights. Austria speed trap: Ferrari at 323 km/h, Mercedes at 328. Five kilometres per hour gap. At Shanghai earlier in the season it was even worse — Hamilton losing 40 mph at straight's end while Mercedes lost only 29. The ADUO engine upgrade targeted 6-8 horsepower against a 40-45 horsepower total deficit. It reduced the gap at the margins. It did not touch the deployment architecture that creates the clipping. Silverstone is next — and it is neither pure danger nor pure opportunity for Ferrari. The Hangar Straight exposes the same problem. But Copse, Maggots, Becketts the high-speed complex — is where Ferrari's chassis advantage has been most visible all season. Barcelona proved Ferrari can be four tenths faster through high-speed corners. If that advantage survives at Silverstone, the straight-line loss becomes manageable. If it does not, Austria was not a one-weekend problem. The second ADUO upgrade — the turbocharger revision is where the real fix sits. Hamilton already told you it won't come for a while. What happens between now and then defines whether Ferrari stay in this championship or gradually fall away from it. 🔔
